Every once and a while we get approached for a quick fun project that stretches our creative noodles. This business card design for Ray was a personal branding project that is just striking. We designed it to the specs of a playing card and used a matte black paper plus silver spot color to bring out that super slick feel of an ace.

My heart skips a beat when Rebecca from Children Inspire Design calls me up and says,
“Jenny, I have an idea.”
Not because eeko will have a new project to work on. But because this new project is always a great collaboration. This time it is a new line of artwork for Fresh Words Market that will be eeko studio meets FWMKT. This new line will be positive messages on prints that can be bought on Fresh Words Market and percentage will go to support PEACE, in Mexico, and GFP in Haiti.
See what we came up with. Can be bought now on freshwordsmarket.com

We’ve been working with Rebecca from Children Inspire Design for over a year now. Over the last year we have seen CID grow exponentially. She is one of the top sellers on zulilly and her soul is nothing but inspirational. Everything she does is to support co-ops for women around the world. All of her prints, art pieces, accessories she sells online benefit either PEACE in Mexico or GFP in Haiti. She is a woman I am proud to know and work with.
We’ve been creating a lot of packaging, and design collateral to help market her products so she can focus on growing her business. And now it is time for a site redesign. Her old site didn’t support her new growth and the navigation was getting messy. So we cleaned it up, added that eeko touch of personality that it needs to differentiate. Take a look and let us know what you think!

We are damned lucky.
Jill Richards, a brilliant photographer reached out to us to work on her rebrand. We always love working with clients who have a passion for their work and are a creative at heart too. Why? Because this pairing of two creative entities is nothing short of magical. We met with Jill to talk about what she was looking for, and it was pretty easy. Jill is a little spunky, a little groovy, a little vintage, a little outdoorsy and a lot of soul.
And she wants to show that. She is just a one-person photo studio, but as in any industry your brand is your business’ personality and she wants her brand to be an extension of herself. Hey, we’re OK with that. Hell, we LOVE that. So let’s get into it. With a little help with the wording we started with some fun typography to emphasize her wild juxtaposition of personality traits. We took inspiration from vintage signage and brought all that together to create her identity system: logo, business cards, and her new marketing collateral that highlighted her photography while still showing off Jill Richards.

Back in April we were approached by the AZLCV about working on the marketing for their upcoming 2nd Annual Earth Night held at the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center. The event would bring leaders in conservationism from all over the state on this one night. With the frenzy of Earth Day events, how do we differentiate? This event was not an event to sell random “green” products. It was an event to bring together thought leaders and celebrate the success of specific conservationist leaders.
We chose to focus on three elements: the evening, Arizona’s beauty and how change happens in stages. So how do we show this visually? Our entire approach was to focus on moon stages. Growth and change only happens in stages. And they never end. This project was a great reminder to us personally to constantly strive to produce better work, for that’s the only way we can grow.
As we enter July, we will be celebrating 3 years of successful business for eeko studio, 1 year of success for CO+HOOTS and we’ll be looking forward for another year of working on great projects for great people.

On Earth Day eve at 5pm Marc Chung approached me about his passion project. Goal: To update you on what air advisories there are for the day, as this is not currently easily accessible. And it should be. Simple idea. Simple solution.
Make it easy. No. Make it stupid easy.
So launched airstat.us. A site that pulls data from each city’s air advisory department and tells you if you can burn or not. And to help support the cause, since we have a little soft spot for all things earthy as well as for our Asian brethren, we quickly created the airstat.us logo, Marc worked his magic coding fingers and got the thing up and running. Just in time for Earth Day. Other cities continue to be added and the code is open for all to use. If you’d like to be involved, learn more about air quality in your city or just find out if there is an air advisory today, check out airstat.us.

You know it when you see it. Something isn’t right and you just can’t put your finger on it.
We’ve come across several clients who have laced up the boots and taken big ol’ strides on our backs, but this is a part of the business. You win some and you lose some. But in time, you will start to win better by stacking the odds. Bet on the sure thing, take a risk on a good odds, and say hell no to anything that raises a big red flag.
That includes, clients who are shady mc shady. Relationships that are all take and no give. People who just aren’t good people. Build your business like you build relationships. With honesty and based on trust. This is how all businesses should be run. No scheming, no inflated rate. Do what you do for what is fair and we all win.

Little Planet. Big Plant.
eeko studio Earth Day Terrarium Sale
We’re mixing it up a little for Earth Day 2011. eeko studio, your favorite, little design boutique, rolled up our sleeves, dug our nails in, and began gardening. Our goal? Unique terrariums. A living, breathing part of the earth. It grows, suffers, and feels as our big planet does.
Add it to your desk at work to bring a little earthy love to the cube, put it in a kitchen window for some sweet morning happiness. They’re also easy to care for — these little guys just need a few drops of water here and there and they’re good to go!
Our little terrariums go on sale this week until the end of April. First come, first served! All terrariums vases are salvaged from Goodwill stores and the plants are specific desert plants, perfect for our dry weather. They are handmade, one-of-a-kind terrariums. So love them, care for them, smile at them.
100% of the proceeds will go to supporting our neighbors over at the Grow House, a collective community garden located at the corner of Garfield and 6th Street in Phoenix. Sorry, local sales only as we cannot ship them.
Happy Earth Day!
